The chemical industry has supported Parliament's decision to not set a carbon goal as the Energy Bill passed through the House of Commons.

Commenting on the vote to reject an amendment to the Energy Bill which would have seen a Carbon Target introduced, Steve Elliott, Chief Executive of the CIA said ' We all want to see a better environmental performance and we can help create that, but we need to see a cost effective generating mix determined under the UK's wider carbon framework '.
