Launching ‘Advantage Scotland’ the chemical industry in Scotland has issued a challenge to all political parties to work with the industry to deliver environmental, social and economic growth.
Chemical and pharmaceutical companies through the Chemical Industries Association have set out a three point agenda for energy, regulation and skills that would allow the industry to continue making advances in products and technologies that deliver vital medicines, essential foods, innovative communications, efficient transport and many other every day necessities.
Steve Elliott Chief Executive of the Chemical Industries Association said “I hope Scotland can take advantage of the enormous opportunities offered by shale gas, show how current environmental regulation is working and promote the importance of STEM subjects and careers and provide adequate funding for training at the sub-degree level”.
He continued “we want to work with Government and politicians of all parties as well as other stakeholders to build the future of Scotland’s chemical and pharmaceutical industry”.
