Press Release

REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation of Chemicals) is the most extensive chemicals legislation ever to be implemented and will affect manufacturers, importers and downstream users of chemicals.

To help businesses the Chemical Industries Association has been leading a pan-European group to develop, a new set of industry support tools available on the Reach-Serv website for manufacturers, importers and downstream users.

The ‘toolbox’ (called TESS, is now available in prototype form atwww.reach-serv.com) is designed to help manufacturers, especially SMEs, overcome a range of financial and technological pains in complying with the new REACH regulations. It also seeks to put down some basic building blocks for stimulating the migration towards more sustainable products and routings.

At the launch of Reach-Serve CIA Director Chris Brooks said  “I am delighted with the high level of cooperation across Europe which has gone into the project.

CIA Members will be testing the Toolbox that aims to provide a much-needed basis for industry, especially SMEs, to come to terms with REACH quickly and effectively.  It also establishes an innovative basis for exploring renewable manufacturing routes, offering potential for substitute products and categorising such possibilities in terms of their practical potential.”
