Sustainability Award

PURPOSE
This Award is for the company or operating unit that can demonstrate excellence in sustainability, through its products, manufacturing processes, supply chain and policies.  

This Award is designed to:

  • Raise the profile of sustainable development, particularly the UN goals
  • Identify good practice
  • Promote sustainable development throughout the supply chain


ELIGIBILITY
The Award is open to any chemical manufacturing company. Following initial judging, applicants will be notified if they have been short-listed by 09 May 2023. The winner will be announced at the Chemical Industry Awards Dinner and a representative from each short-listed company will receive an invitation to attend. Winning applicants should be willing to participate in publicity.


CRITERIA
Judges will be looking for demonstrable leadership by and a commitment to sustainable development exemplified in its culture, strategies, commitment to continuously improving its  the environmental, economic and social performance. Applicants should include illustrative and flagship practical examples of sustainability initiatives and projects, backed by metrics where possible.  In particular nominations will be assessed on:

  • Leadership which is visibly demonstrated.
  • Identification of suitable Sustainable Development strategies for your business
  • Demonstrable commitment to at least 2 of the UN SD Goals


JUDGING
The judging panel will consist of the sponsor, a CIA staff member, and at least 1 independent expert.


CLOSING DATE
Entries to be made in confidence to Mike Lancaster on the Entry Form, signed by a member of the company leadership team by 10 April 2023.

All information provided in the entry form (except the 50 word summary, which will be published for all shortlisted candidates) will be treated in the strictest confidence. It will be used solely for the purpose of judging. 

Applicants will be consulted in case it is wished to use some material for future publicity purposes or for development of case studies.
