We're inviting you to explore the findings and implications of a major UKRI programme focused on smart local energy systems, at a conference and exhibition in Manchester on 28 February 2023.
The Prospering from the Energy Revolution programme, delivered by Innovate UK, has invested over £100 million in developing and demonstrating place-based approaches to energy, with over 90 projects involving hundreds of organisations.
A smart local energy system intelligently brings together energy supply, storage, and demand at a local level such as a town or city. By balancing supply and demand locally, this approach could reduce the need to boost national networks, while bringing advantages in consumer costs and services, energy efficiency and carbon emissions .
The programme has created a rich legacy of learning about such energy approaches and the benefits that they could deliver. This event will help tell the stories of the projects, and what they have achieved and learnt. It will bring together people from across the energy landscape to look at how the potential of smart local energy systems can be realised as part of our journey to net zero.
Due to venue capacity limitations, Innovate UK will have an application system for in-person attendance, but most of the event will also be streamed online for a wider audience.
